The Way We Loved Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast hit the silver screen in 1991. By this point, we had already seen The Little Mermaid and we thought we were totally prepared to handle Disney animated classics and their epicness. But we were wrong. The tale as old as time had surprises in store. This is what unfolded:

We learned the word…

And we learned that the only way to daydream about more than a provincial life involves dandelions.

And we got a preview of what horror movies would be like when we screamed “NO DON’T GO IN THAT GATE WE KNOW WHAT’S BEHIND IT!”

We shed our first movie tear when Belle’s dad left.

Then this song got stuck in our heads in a big way.

Only to be replaced in our heads by this epic dining diddy.

And we never looked at silverware the same again.

We learned that excitement in budding relationships is often accompanied by biting your lip.

We always tried to sit so our pretty dresses looked like this:

And we learned the true definition of a creep. #PleaseGoAway

And then we saw the ballroom. And immediately ditched all future plans in order to learn the waltz.

And we got simultaneously sad and proud when Beast let Belle go care for her dad.

We came to the ultimate realization about this little stowaway’s name. (Chip because he has a chip? Well played.)

We cheered and laughed when this happened.

We came to understand the true meaning of kindness when Beast’s face softened and he let go of Gaston.

We hated Gaston something fierce when he took advantage, so we didn’t feel too badly for cheering when this happened.

And we held our breath for what seemed like an ETERNITY as the last petal fell…

But then. Our hope was vindicated. And we got to find out that the prince really looked like THIS:

And that the footstool and Chip really looked like THIS:

And then there was happily ever after.

At which point we smiled…

And asked to see it again.
