People of the world: Mama Odie from The Princess and the Frog really knows what’s up. She may be one of the oldest beings living in the bayou, but she’s no worse for the wear. In fact, she’s wiser. She demonstrates this in one wholly-epic scene and one song entitled Dig a Little Deeper.
Here’s her life advice for you:
Being awesome involves oversized furniture (like this giant chair).
Naps are key.
Serious talks are best with food. Sometimes gumbo, but not always.
It’s okay to bring out the serious face if you need it.
One ought to reserve it for situations that warrant it, but go with it. (Add a little yelling for dramatic effect. Frogs really respond to that.)
If you must dance, really dance. With props. And feeling.
Being epic really helps make a point. People are more apt to listen to your advice if you can do something like this to back your thoughts up:
And then she really gets into the good stuff. Like how—in life—you have to know who you are.
(Side note: the use of a podium can 2.0 this concept.)
Anyway, back to the point. That “know who you are” thing has to come before you can know what you need.
Did you get that? Dig a little deeper and you’ll figure out what can make you happy in life.
Once you do that, it’s…
Also keep in mind…
Finding out who you are can sometimes feel like a tightrope walk. On a snake. Across a hole in the floor. But you can make it. #metaphors
One more time…
You’ve got to DIG A LITTLE DEEPER to find out who you are.
DIG A LITTLE DEEPER. It really ain’t that far.
When you find out who you are, you’ll find out what you need.
Blue skies and sunshine guaranteed!
(Not bad for 197-year-old blind lady.)
