As a boy growing up watching Disney movies, The Lion King was always the one that stood out to me. It made me appreciate the time I spent with my dad and family. I learned great life lessons from it, but the story I have to share is about how Disney and The Lion King made my life special.
I had a cousin, who truly was like my sister. We shared such a special bond and The Lion King was the anchor to our bond. Back in the mid 2000s she contracted leukemia and fought that disease for many years. Every chance we had we would watch The Lion King together. It was always so magical and the song Hakuna Matata was such an impactful song that we decided to adopt it as our motto.
Back in 2010 my cousin, Cara was her name, passed from her cancer. Needless to say it crushed me. I’ve never lost someone so special in my life, and the one thing that kept me from becoming depressed was our motto. She was always so dedicated to it and the memories of the times we shared together make it easy to go on. So thank you Disney. You’ve helped me through the toughest times in my life. You’ve given me and millions of others a childhood. You’ve given me a dream and I plan on doing my damnedest to work at your company. If I can affect the youth of tomorrow like I was affected yesterday, I will.
