Growing Up Disney

Ever since I can remember, I have ¬†always been involved with Disney. Whether it’s watching my favorite Disney movies on VHS, shopping at the Disney Store, or going to Disneyland every weekend, Disney has always been a part of my life, and it always will be. As a child, when I did all of these things like they were my routine, I loved Disney. I couldn’t imagine a life without it! It wasn’t until I was 12, however, that I realized my passion for Disney.

I was a tween, on the edge of teenhood, but still a child at heart. I went to San Francisco to visit my family as I do twice a year. My uncle told me about this museum in the Presidio of San Francisco that was all about Walt Disney, called The Walt Disney Family Museum. Already being a Disney fan, I couldn’t wait to check it out. Little did I know that that museum would change my life forever.

My uncle, brother, grandmother, and I all took a trip to the museum, where we spent a good half of our afternoon. My grandmother and brother breezed through the museum, but my uncle and I relished every moment of Walt Disney’s history that this museum had to offer. Everything from his family line, to his first job, success, failures, and more, fascinated me beyond words. I walked out of the museum feeling like a new person. I knew from that moment on that I wanted to be a part of Disney’s world in any and every way. After that I was no longer a fan of Disney, I was passionate and obsessed with it.

Now, six years later, I am still as in love with Disney as I was in that moment. I went back to that wonderful museum three more times, and I would go again in an instant. Disneyland is still a part of my life too, as it was when I was younger. It is my favorite Disney park, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I went to Walt Disney World with my friends for the first time last April, and soon I will go a second time! I have also applied to the Disney College Program, and hope to start my Disney future with them.

All in all, Disney is much more than an entertainment company, Disneyland is much more than a park, and everything that Walt Disney created is much more than it seems. Disney, to me, is a way of life, and I am so thankful for it.
