Random Acts of Magic for a One-Year-Old

Our family thought we were crazy. “Bringing a one year old to Disney World? By yourselves? For seven days?!” We calmly replied, “Yes”, although inside I was very anxious. I could not tell you how many times I have been to Disney, although I know it is well over 20. We were always a “Disney” family, and my love for Disney really showed through when my now husband proposed in front of Cinderella’s castle on New Year’s Eve in 2009. I wanted nothing more than to share my love and traditions with my daughter. However, the closer the trip got, the more I thought, “How are we going to do this?” July, lines, heat, crying baby, and just the two of us to rely on. How am I going to ride Space Mountain? Upon deep conversations with my husband we built up enough confidence to hop on that plane and go.

A few random acts of kindest definitely did not go unnoticed and made our trip that much more special. I kissed my husband and baby goodbye and hopped in the single rider line at Test Track. A man with his son saw me and approached. “We have an extra Fast Pass, would you like to join us?” Little did this man know that he not only saved me a half hour in line, but allowed me to enjoy that extra half hour with my husband and daughter at Illuminations in Epcot. The following day, walking down Main Street at the Magic Kingdom, we diligently looked for a spot to park the stroller for the Electric Light Parade. The street was filled with people and tour groups, and we wandered aimlessly looking for a place to catch a glimpse. A Disney worker approached us and asked us if we were looking for a place to watch. I replied with an exasperated “Yes!” She quickly told us to follow her and took us to an empty spot that would soon be roped off so we could have a front row seat. I believed I asked the wonderful lady if I could hug her!

These are just two of the wonderful acts of kindness that are among many throughout our stay. I have amazing memories of my trips as a child, and could not wait to share these with my daughter. Although my daughter may be too young to remember this specific trip, my husband and I created memories to last a lifetime. We truly are a Disney family.
