Best friends!

We live in a small town where we know most of the people in our age range. Our three-year-old daughter made a friend at daycare and she repeatedly asked to set a play date up with her. My husband and I both work long hours and, needless to say, setting up a play date didn’t occur.

One weekend, in January 2011, we decided to visit Walt Disney World for a day trip (we live about three hours north). We were in a very crowded Toon Town area (pre-Fantasyland reconstruction) when I heard someone calling my daughter’s name. The two little girls jumped from their strollers, ran, and embraced each other (insert Love Story theme song!).

In a sea of kids with matching mouse ears and sunglasses, two three-year-olds recognized each other. We quickly made friends with the parents and had a great trip. We returned to the Park together the following May and continue to be close with our best Disney friends – we just had dinner together tonight! The girls concluded their evening by watching videos of their first Disney “play date” together where their families became great friends. We’re all planning to return this Fall for the Halloween Party and can’t wait for the new Fantasyland to open next!
