When we decided to get married back in 1998, we had no idea where to hold the wedding. We had traveled to Walt Disney World several times, so I ordered a Fairytale Wedding brochure. When it arrived in the mail, it was beautiful. We looked at each other and said “Yes, this is where we will get married!” My mom, however, thought that no one would attend.
I asked my sister, who had died suddenly five years before, to send me a sign. That same night, I went over to my mom’s and sat in her living room with my aunt. I asked my aunt what she was watching on TV – it was “Wheel of Fortune.” When I turned to the TV to help solve the puzzle, the answer was, “The Glass Slipper Fits Perfectly.” The contestant had to guess the category – Cinderella – and I gasped. I left my mom’s to tell my fiancé about this sign, and from that moment on we never looked back.
We had our Fairytale/Cinderella wedding with more than 80 family and friends in attendance. It was one of the most magical days of our lives and, 14 years later, our guests still ask us when will we do it again. For years we’ve traveled to Walt Disney World for the Flower & Garden Festival, Halloween, Christmas, and my December birthday. We also travel to Disneyland every few years. I can’t imagine a world without it. I’m now in the process of planning my 50th birthday in 2013 at – where else? – Walt Disney World! I can’t imagine spending my birthday anywhere else as it’s truly one of the most magical places on Earth. Thank you, Walt Disney, for your imagination – and for all the people who’ve worked to make this a truly magical place where you can go and be a kid, no matter how old you are.
