On December 22nd, I celebrated my 54th birthday at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Parks. The service and food were amazing at both Parks, which I guess becomes more important than the rides as you get older. We ate lunch at the Blue Bayou and when I asked about menu options for someone who is wheat, gluten, and dairy intolerant, they personally sent out Chef Art. I almost cried because when you have food allergies, restaurant staff members usually act like you’re troublesome. Chef Art and I went over the lunch menu and picked out a dish. He then told me how he would recreate the recipe to meet my medical needs. The salmon I had at the Blue Bayou was the best I’ve ever had! He even personally presented me with a heavenly pear sorbet (candle included) for my birthday (so unexpected and so delicious!). We ate dinner at the Wine Country Trattoria in Disney California Adventure Park and they happily accommodated me with gluten-free bread and shrimp scampi made with gluten-free pasta (all cooked in olive oil to eliminate the dairy). I ate way too much in one day … thanks for an amazing and worry-free birthday!
