Last night at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Blvd, Saving Mr. Banks star and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson had her hands, feet, and name forever captured in cement as a reminder of her contribution to film. Thompson, who portrays P.L. Travers in the upcoming film about the adaptation of Mary Poppins, was honored on the very spot where Mary Poppins itself premiered in 1964. The ceremony was part of the AFI Fest’s Opening Night Gala event, which featured the U.S. Premiere of Saving Mr. Banks. In attendance were stars Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, Colin Ferrel, Paul Giamatti, B.J. Novak, and Jason Schwartzman, as well as director John Lee Hancock.
