With all of the compelling content out there, it was a tough week for us to pick our favorite articles that were published on the Disney family of websites. In the end, we decided on four articles with unique takes on Disney movies. From the way these films find inspiration in real life to the way they inject a bit of fantasy into our own lives via their unique places at the Disney Parks, there is something magical about each. The Disney Parks Blog broke some incredible news with their announcement that you’ll be able to Encounter Thor from ‘Thor: The Dark World’ This Fall at Disneyland Park. They’re keeping the rest of the details close to their vest for the moment, but you can be sure that more news will be coming from their site soon.
Long before Lucasfilm joined the Walt Disney Company, Disney fans had a deep connection to the Star Wars films. This is in no small part due to Star Tours, a staple of the Disney Parks for more than 25 years. In his article, Convenient Daily Departures: The History of Star Tours, writer James McFadden takes a long look at the history of this collaboration and how it fits into the greater Star Wars universe.
Oh My Disney
In Real Fish Versus Finding Nemo Fish, Oh My Disney hopes to shed a little light on the differences between the animated fish of Pixar’s Finding Nemo and the actual creatures that inspired them. The result does just as much to show off the similarities, which are clearly well researched and painstakingly designed. It’s striking how close the animators managed to stick to the real, albeit slightly less talkative, ocean life they portrayed.
