When you walk around the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, a few houses might pop out at you. They’ll seem oddly familiar. If you look hard enough, you might even see a resemblance to the dwarfs’ cottage in Disney’s first full length animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
We wondered about the legitimacy of this rumor, so we drove by the cottages to see for ourselves. Then we asked around and discovered that there’s a good possibility this story is real. “The Studio never leased the cottages for offices, but some of the Disney artists—namely Ham Luske, Dick Lundy, Fred Moore, Herman Schultheis, and Lee Morehouse—rented living space there since the cottages were so close to the Hyperion Studio,” says Disney archivist Dave Smith.
