A day spent hopping from ride to ride at the Disneyland Resort can definitely leave you thirsty for a cold beverage. While this can usually be solved with a pit stop at any of the Park’s wonderful eateries (or at one very valuable Dole Whip dispensary), there’s no harm in taking an extended seat to chill out on a hot day. For those who hold relaxing in high regard, we’ve gathered a list of our favorite spots around the park to get off your feet and enjoy a refreshing drink:
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar – This small, shady hideaway is the definition of keeping it cool. Carrying over the tropical vibe of the Jungle Cruise, Trader Sam’s feels like a vacation within a vacation; we like to think of it as our own private paradise just across the way at the Disneyland Hotel. The menu has drinks to capture the imaginations of young and old alike, from the adult favorite Uh Oa (with light and dark rums, orange, passion fruit, guava, and grapefruit juices, falernum, cinnamon, and freshly squeezed lime juice, served lit on fire) to the fresh, fruity, and kid-friendly Schweitzer Falls (a mix of tropical juices, Sam’s Gorilla Grog, and Sprite). You’ll want to stick around to see the interactive decor. As well designed as any Disneyland Resort ride, the walls of the Enchanted Tiki Bar are filled with animated adornments, goofy gags, and hidden surprises; some come to life randomly and some are set to accompany items on the menu. The only downside is that you’ll have to keep coming back and ordering delicious drinks to see it all.
Carthay Circle Lounge - Done up as a tribute to the glitzy Golden Era of Hollywood, this luxurious lounge space offers up drinks and dishes that bring old-fashioned techniques into the modern world. Grown-ups are welcome to try era-specific drinks found nowhere else in the park, such as a Carthay Manhattan, chilled with a single sphere of pressed ice, a preparation that you’ll enjoy seeing for yourself if you are sitting close to the bar. Even kids can get in on the retro fun by enjoying a Shirley Temple while a photo of the actress herself hangs nearby.
Cars Land’s Cozy Cone Motel - While handcrafted cocktails are a great way to put a refined palate to work, epicureans of all ages can find something special on offer in Cars Land. Only there can you circle up below a canopy of giant orange traffic cones and tip back a very special soft drink, like Doc’s Wild Grape Tonic (Sprite splashed with wild grape syrup and topped with wild berry foam) or Ramone’s Pear of Dice Soda (desert pear mixed with mojito flavorings and topped with Sprite). The accompanying eats are just as inventive, offering cone-shaped twists on popular snacks like pretzels and churros, as well as a rotating assortment of flavored popcorns including dill pickle, bacon and cheddar, sweet and spicy, salt and vinegar, and nacho cheese.
Of course, these aren’t the only spots to stay cool throughout the park, just some of the ones we love. We hope our favorites become yours too.
