I had been raised in a Disney family with several Disney trips under my belt. After my daughter was born I wondered when she would be old enough to go to Disney World and have it really matter to her. I got my answer when she was almost 2 1/2 years old. My grandparents had bought my mom, sister, daughter and me tickets to see Monster’s Inc. On Ice. After we had settled into our seats and the lights went off, Mickey skated out onto the rink. As soon as my daughter saw him her little fingers flew up to her face, which was nearly split in two with such a huge grin.
Her little legs were kicking so hard that I thought she was gonna fly through the roof. She was screaming at the top of her lungs, “Its Mickey!” I have never seen her or any other child express so much joy and excitement as she had that day. At the intermission my mom called my grandma and told her what had happened. After the show had finished we headed to their house, and laid out the plan for my daughter’s first trip to Walt Disney World. She now obsesses about Walt Disney World as much as I do.
