With the Oscars fast approaching, and a special Jimmy Kimmel edition headed our way right after the broadcast, we started to wonder some things about ABC’s late night host. By some things, of course we mean some Disney things. Fortunately for us, he was willing to save us from our rampant curiosity and give us some answers:
What’s your earliest Disney memory?
When I was around six or seven years old, my mother took us to see Peter Pan. In those days, if you bought a movie ticket you could stay in the theater all day. It was a double feature with The Apple Dumpling Gang. My mother, sister and I stayed for two showings of Peter Pan and two of The Apple Dumpling Gang. My Dad showed up after work with a pizza and we watched Peter Pan one more time. It’s still one of my favorite movies.
Do you have a Disney character who is your favorite, or who you feel best represents you as a person?
Probably Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh. I saw Winnie the Pooh as I reached the age when a boy stops playing with stuffed animals and identified with the character strongly. As I got older, I more closely resembled Baloo the bear from Jungle Book.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The band performances are the most fun. It’s like having a private concert in your office every night of the week.
What would someone be the most surprised to hear about your job that they don’t know?
I have no less than ten meetings a day. Most of my day is spent writing scripts and having meetings.
What Disney Villain would make for the best interview on your show?
Cruella de Vil. I’d ask her if she realizes her last name spells DEVIL.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
What’s your favorite ride at Disneyland?
Pirates of the Caribbean
And your favorite snack to eat when you’re at the Parks?
A Mickey Beignet and a Cherry Coke.
Now that you know a little more about Jimmy, here are a few of our favorite segments he’s done lately (including one in which he kisses a baby tiger):
And we have a feeling our new favorite is going to be his new Jimmy Kimmel: After the Oscars Special which you can see March 2nd on ABC immediately following the big show.
Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35I10:35c on ABC.
